HUACALERA ATTRACTIONS
MONOLITH TO THE TROPIC OF CAPRICORN - TROPICO DE CAPRICORNIO
It is located at the town's entrance. Here you will also see the sundial, located on the line where the Tropic of Capricorn passes through the Province.
On one side of the Ruta Nacional Nº 9, ar 100 km from San Salvador de Jujuy. Activities: apart from observing, you can also take pictures.
THE MILL - EL MOLINO
The Jesuits constructed it on the XVII century. It has been restored and the present ownersstill are able to use it; visitors are allowed. It is placed at La Banda, 200 m from the town of Uquía.
To get there you must cross the bridge over the Río Grande. Visiting Hours: Every day from 8:00 Am till 6:00 PM.
THE YACORAITE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
A pre-Hispanic site where you can find more or less defined dwellings on the top of the hill. It can be found in the gorge or quebrada of the same name, where its small river runs into the Quebrada de Humahuaca Gorge.
THE LOS AMARILLOS ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
A pre-Hispanic settlement, whose still standing dwellings were of a rectangular shape, usually of a not very big size. There are door openings and masonry walls. It is situated in the Yacoraite quebrada, built part on a platform and part of an adjacent hill.
