LA ALMONA
Due west of San Salvador de Jujuy, following the Avenida H. Irigoyen, on the southern bank of the Xibi Xibi River, the traveller will find a road shaded by old mature jacaranda trees, and a mixture of willows and elms by the river bank itself, will eventually reach another road that slowly opens up into a landscape of hills and meadows dedicated to cattle and sheep breeding and finally reaches the small town of La Almona.
This road is none other than the Nº 9 National Route, taking off into the Nº 8 and Nº 2 Provincial Routes, paved for the most part of its length.
It is also known as the La Almona Park and is heaven for the practitioners of hang gliders in the Province of Jujuy. There is also a very famous factory of chocolate and sweets in town.

The Los Alisos Dam
Before arriving in La Almona, 22 km from San Salvador de Jujuy, down Ruta Nacional Nº 9, and the Rutas Provinciales Nº 8 and Nº 2, you will reach the dam built on the Río Los Alisos River. From the top of the dam there are some striking views of the lake.
In the upper part, the Eva Perón Complex offers the possibility to camp beside a swimming pool and has playing fields for various sports. Activities that can be undertaken are the observation of flora and fauna, sport fishing, trekking, excursion programmes and biking tours.
