YALA
At the foot of the Chañi Mountain, circled by wooded hills, exuberant vegetation, crystalline watercourses and pools, you will find a place of great scenic beauty which attracts hundreds of visitors that come here to camp and enjoy the water mirrors of the Lagunas de Yala Lakes.
It comprises 6 major lakes and several smaller ones, each one separated by barely 100 m distances from each other, surrounded by extensive rows of trees, including diverse species as walnuts, laurel as well as tree ferns and bushes.
To get there is easy since it is located 28 km from San Salvador de Jujuy. It has been declared the Parque Provincial "Potrero de Yala Provincial Park".
The largest lake is about 500 m long and 300 m wide. In its waters you will find cultured trout and atherines. The Colectivo 9 transport that leaves every 30 minutes will take you all the way to the Puente Negro Bridge. Crossing the Reyes River, you will find the Reyes Hot Springs. There are public baths and in the hotel there is a hot water swimming pool, where you can go as a visitor. Go by Colectivo 14, which offers 4 services every day.
These water mirrors are surrounded by poplars and pine woods: they make an ideal place for sport fishing; there you can catch magnificent trout and atherines, apart from enjoying a beautiful outdoor stay only a few km away from the Province capital.
From the Nº 4 Provincial Route you can see the crystal clear waters of three of the twelve lakes that make up this beautiful landscape.
You can reach the Yala Lakes departing from Yala and crossing the river on the Puente Negro Bridge.
