In August of 1825 the members of the Deliberating Assembly met in this welcoming Andean village, to proclaim the Independence of the country.

Sucre -capital of the department of Chuquisaca- is a small place serene. Inspiring, and wrapped in an intellectuality halo. The city is the haven of young students from the whole country that study at the Universidad Mayor, Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier.
Thanks to its colonial essence, its airs of freedom, its intellectual atmosphere, and the juvenile impulses of the students, its old houses, the remarkable castle of La Glorieta, the overwhelming beauty of its landscape and the cordiality of its people, the capital city of Bolivia will always be a temptation for the traveler.
SURROUNDINGS
Castle of La Glorieta: This eclectic construction is characterized by the confused melange of architectural styles: Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassicists and Mudejar features can be appreciated. The idea of building a castle in the outskirts of the capital of Bolivia belonged to the Prince of La Glorieta, Francisco Argandoņa and his wife Clotilde, at the end of the 19th century. It is located at only seven kilometers from Sucre.
Prints of dinosaurs: Near 5,000 prehistoric impressions and more than 150 varieties of prints of dinosaurs and can be seen at only 5 kilometers from Sucre, in the vicinity of the National Factory of Cement (FANCESA).
Tarabuco: It is a trip to the past at 65 kilometers from the city. The residents of this town keep their ancestral ways and continue using their typical clothes. The handcrafts market of Sundays is famous for its beautiful indigenous textiles. Here the travelers can visit the colonial country property Kantunucchu.
