Pali - Aike National Park (37 km northwest of the Punta Delgada Council and 196 km northwest of Punta Arenas)

Also named "El Escorial del Diablo" ("The Devil's Slag Heap"), it covers 5,030 hectares. It is located in the most arid part of the Magellan steppes, in the Municipality of San Gregorio, Province of Magallanes, at a distance of approximately 196 km northeast of Punta Arenas city.
The territory of this Park forms part of a huge volcanic field that has been active since the Pliocene age. Most of its surface is covered by major basaltic lava flows, which produce vegetation of a semi-desert type. The place is famous for its natural value and scenic beauty, and is characterised by a series of low conical lava formations that give it a lunar-type landscape. This area also contains mammals that are fairly rare in the other sectors of this region, such as: chingues, gray foxes, guanacos and bats, among others.
