SURROUNDINGS
- Caleta Anahuac, this is a quiet, traditional and behind the times place, with little houses clinging to the hillsides and brave fishermen that bring in the bounty of the ocean. It is very close to Angelmo (2 km away), and if the traveller wants to add a touch of local flavor to his visit he may board local buses to get there.
- Chinchihue, is a coastal area on the Tenglo channel, displaying to the traveler a series of scenes of life by the sea, such as: houses on stilts, oyster beds and their tenders, and the shipyards. In addition, the area offers a beach, campsites and small restaurants.
- Pelluco Beach Resort, the unappealing meaning of its name (pelluco is a native word meaning drip-water) might lead one to cross it off one's itinerary. This, however, would be a great mistake, because its residential area - endowed with attractive lodgings, restaurants, pubs and discotheques - dazzles visitors.
Among the places of interest one can mention the Santa Cruz chapel, built at the beginning of the 20th century and restored in 1985 with similar materials to those used in the architecture of Chiloe.
Another reason that makes this beach attractive is its being the departure point for excursions to Piedra Azul, Coihuin, Quillaipe and Lenca, where one can watch the resting and feeding places of resident and migratory birds, as well as dolphins and other mammals.
- Cochamo is another coastal town in this region. Among its principal attractions is the Maria Inmaculada Church, built of larch wood and lined inside with maņio and oak. The town has crafts fairs, lodgings and restaurants.
- Sotomo Hot Springs are wells with warm water at 37 to 41 Celsius degrees. Besides, the water is mineralized with 37 minerals, principally sulphur. They are located in the Reloncavi estuary, surrounded by four national parks. The wells appear when the tide begins to ebb, as from December 20th, every year. All around them is wilderness, volcanoes and Andean massifs.
Here fishing fans can catch easily many salmon, robalos and jureles.
