ATTRACTIONS
Beaches and parks provide a relaxing itinerary in Viņa del Mar, the beach city that boasts of the beauty of its sea, the gentleness of its waves and the warmth of its people, always giving a warm smile to its visitors.
Whether on its beaches or on its streets, Viņa del Mar has much to give the traveler. We recommend visiting the following places:
Quinta Vergara, this was the home of Viņa del Mar's founder, Jose Francisco Vergara Echevers, and now hosts the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts, which serves as a background for the Viņa del Mar February International Song Festival, one of Latin America's most prestigious and music contests.
Rioja Palace, this is a beautiful French-style house that has been declared a National Monument. It is home to the Environmental Museum, and has an open-air theater, swimming pool, tennis courts, stables and a riding school. It belongs to the Viņa del Mar borough.
Mt Castillo, affords an excellent view of Viņa del Mar. It looks like a storybook medieval citadel, because that is how some of the most luxurious and traditional palaces and castles were meant to look when they were built in the last century, among them you will see the imposing Presidential Palace and the famous "Flower Clock".
Valparaiso Street is the city's business and trade center and offers the visitor a variety of local attractions: The Florida Gallery, a plaza with important shops and coffee houses is a main element.
Cultura del Mar Museum ("Sea Life Museum"), exhibits an interesting collection of seafaring items that, in one way or another, reflect the history of the city and the resort it now is. It is located in a two-storey building with an attached tower that was built in 1880 by Gustavo Adolfo Wulff Mowle, after whom it is also known as the Wulff Castle.
Peru Avenue, connects the Estero and Acapulco beaches. This roadway is traversed by dozens of pedestrians who wish to view the wonderful sunsets in Viņa del Mar.
