NATURE IN ECUADORMOORS AND MOUNTAINS |
|
The Ecuadorian territory is covered all the way north-south by the Andes Mountain Range that form the "avenue of the volcanos", where it is possible to climb the majestic Chimborazo, volcano located in the county of the same name, surrounded by the moor, an ideal area for long walks and the practice of mountain cycling. The tenth part of the territory of the country, that is to say 27,000 sq km, is moor or is covered with dry vegetation, characterized by pads and gramineous plants. The National Park Cotopaxi, besides being one of the favorite places for the "andinistas", is a privileged natural spot for the beauty of its lagoons and big moors. It is very close to the National Recreation Area El Boliche. The Ecuadorian east astonishes for its stern beauty. The basin of the Napo River has an extension of 1,400 km and its ecosystem is considered one of the richest habitats in the world. The rivers, lakes, currents and swamps of the Amazon basin, are the habitat of thousands of species. In this area more than 1000 species of birds live, what makes this place into the paradise of the "birdwatcher." |
