TRAVEL AND TOURS

One only need to see the greatness of the rivers and the leafy foliage of the trees, to feel the magic seduction of Ecuador's Orient. Then, one feels like rubbing his eyes to check if everything is true: the orange clouds due to the radiance of the sun, the fragile canoes that fight with the currents, the maddening screech of the anonymous "hosts" of the forest.

Here people keep the secrets discovered by their millennial ancestors. Rural trails and turbulent rivers, heat and rains, snakes, serpents, piranhas, incisive mosquitoes in the Ecuadorian Orient, a place in which mother nature has gotten dressed of green to harbor life in its most diverse forms.

The land of infinite greenery is born in the oriental hillside of the Ecuadorian Andes. Weather here is characterized by the unbearable heat and the persistent rains -with rays and thunders - that make bigger the bed of the mythical Amazon river.

Anthropological and historical studies conclude that the Amazon forest was inhabited by man in the year 10.000 B.C. At the present time, there are six ethnical groups in the Ecuadorian Orient: the quichuas (predominantly related to the Andean people), the shuar, achuar, huaroni (nomads), siona-secoya and cofan.

Walks under the shade of gigantic trees, fantastic journeys along rivers like the Napo (the longest in the region, with 855 kilometers) are but part of the great adventure that allows one to become intimate with nature and to learn about the wisdom of the natives, children of the land of infinite greenery.

ATTRACTIONS

There is so much to do in the Orient that time seems to pass to quickly, because in this corner of the planet even admiring the clouds, the corner of a river or the flying of a butterfly is something unforgettable, unique and exceptional.

Walks and travelling by the rivers will allow you to know the flora and fauna of the forest, listening closely to the improvised "concert" played by the beings that hide in forest or standing static in front of the threatening reddish eyes of a caymans swarming among the canoes.

There are multiple ways of visiting the forest. Tena (capital of the county of Napo), Lago Agrio (capital of the county of Sucumbios) and Francisco de Orellana (capital of the province of Orellana), are the main entrance doors to this region of surprising adventures.
