LAPATAIA BAY
The trip starts in Puerto Arias, to the west of Ushuaia. From Puerto Arias, you go east on a catamaran to Punta Tortuga where Lapataia Bay ends. Then, you go on sailing to Ensenada Bay, Redonda and Estorbo Isles, Golondrina Bay and the Ushuaia Peninsula until you reach Bridges Archipelago, where there are countless birds and seals.
At some stage in the trip, there is a stopover at Alicia Island. This is a famous island because there are a large number of imperial cormorants living on it. You will also visit De Los Lobos Island, where you can observe two different types of the mammals that live in this area, with and without hair.
Then, the tour goes on to Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, the last stop before going back to the city of Ushuaia, sailing along the southern coast of Tierra del Fuego Island, towards the west.
The main attraction of the area is Puerto Túnel, formerly a sawmill and a farm where scientists from different countries study the Yámana culture, a Patagonian tribe.
As you enter Ushuaia Bay, you will be delighted by the view of the city bordered by the Martial Range. The trip finishes at the tourist pier "Eduardo Brisighelli".
In Lapataia Bay you can also join those visitors coming to the National Park by land, thus combining a sea and land round tour .
You will have the opportunity to try the famous Fueguian lamb as well as a wide variety of dishes including chicken, beef or pork "brochettes" and a complete "parrillada" or barbecue.
At tea time, you can choose from a wide range of house-made cakes with a hot cup of chocolate while sitting by the fireplace.
