Established as a reserve on February 14, 1996, by Law (D.S.) N 001-96-AG. It is in the department of Cajamarca, province of Santa Cruz, district of Chancaybaos and has a surface of 2628 has. In this zone is the much visited thermal baths called Los Baos where Inca Atahualpa came to relax before the Spanish conquerors arrived.
With regard to the fauna we can observe chiroques, cerncalos and ducks. The main goal of the reserved area of Chancay baos is to protect and preserve the thermal waters and the wild fauna that lives in the surrounding area.

THE RESERVED AREA OF THE RIO GUEPPI
This area, established on April 3, 1997, through law (D.S.) N 003-97-AG, is found in the department of Loreto, province of Maynas. It has a surface of 625,971 has.
In relation to the animals in danger of extinction we can list: the otorongo (Panthera onca), the river wolf (Pteronura brasiliensis), the cayman (Caiman crocodylus), the manat (Trichechus inungis), the bufeo colorado (Inia geoffrensis) and the bufeo gris (Sotalia fluvia tilis). This area is endowed with a high density of birds and reptiles represented mainly by the black alligator (Melanoschus riger); in the river Lagartococha, next to Ecuador, there are lots of paiche fish (Arapaima gigas).
This area is peopled by different aboriginal tribes such as: Kichwas, Secoyas and Boras. Among the main important goals assigned too the protectors of the area are the protection of the tropical and humid forest; the preservation of its flora and fauna, the promotion of tourism and, finally, the conservation and protection of native communities.
