Tour Description

DAY 01: INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL
Support at your arrival to Lima International Airport and transport to your hotel. There you will receive a summary on your tour; receive vouchers covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organisation of your Peru trip.

DAY 02: LIMA: City tour and Larco Herrera Archaeological Museum
Lima Peru, Tours in South America After breakfast. Guided sightseeing tour to the most important and attractive sites in Lima, the "City of Kings". The tour includes Lima's Historical Centre, crossing by Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and its Religious Art Museum, the Church of Santo Domingo, with the tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin de Porres, and Lima's Colonial Balconies.
You will visit the Convent and Church of San Francisco, the main monumental compound of Colonial Art in America and Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The tour includes a visit to the Basilica of 21 altars, Convent of Cloisters, Capitulary and Clementine Rooms, Chorus and Library of the priests, a Museum showing 11 paintings of the Rubens School, the Sacristy with paintings of Zurbaran and Ribera, its great patio decorated with Seville tiles of the XVI Century, Moorish arches and underground catacombs. You then drive through the residential Districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, passing by the Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial and administrative centre of the Lima Culture built in the II Century A.C. that the Incas considered as "Ñaupallaqta" or Sacred place. You will also visit El Olivar Park with olive trees brought from Spain in the XVth Century, the Central Park of Miraflores and Larcomar, an icon of modern Lima and a tourist and entertainment centre as well as a privileged site to enjoy an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean.
In the afternoon, Visit to the Larco Herrera Museum, for an excellent overview of Peruvian ancient past as it holds the best private collection of pre-Columbian art in the country. The museum has many fine examples of textile works, one example of which has a record breaking 398 threads per inch; materials and tools used by ancient Peruvians for their work in ceramics and metal; and Pre-Inca and Inca period art pottery, gold and silver pieces with semiprecious stones. Return to your selected hotel.

DAY 03: LIMA - CUSCO
Kenko Peru, Tours in South America Transport to the airport "Jorge Chávez" to board your plane to Cusco. Arrival at the airport and transport to the hotel. In the afternoon, guided tour in Cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun, or Korikancha. Then, you drive to the outskirts of the City to visit the Inca places of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, deliberately built on a hill overlooking Cusco, famous for its enormous carved stones, some of them standing over 9 m / 30 ft high and weighing over 350 tons.

Get ready to enjoy a dinner with folk show in a typical restaurant where the musicians play with Andean instruments of beautiful sounds, while typically dressed dancers show you different ancient Peruvian dances. Return to the hotel.

DAY 04: CUSCO - Sacred Valley of the Incas
Pisac Peru, Tours in South America Early morning tour in private car to the "Sacred Valley of the Incas", the Urubamba Valley. Visit to the colourful Indian Pisac Market held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the shopping paradise of the Andes where barter is still practiced.
Enjoy the unique atmosphere during a typical lunch.
In the afternoon, passing through the Towns of Calca and Urubamba, you will visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the Valley, and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes in the Lower jungle. You can walk through the quaint streets of the nearby Town, and get a good idea of what this Strategic Military, Religious, and Agricultural Centre was like during the era of the Inca Empire. On your way back to Cusco you stop of at the colourful Andean Village of Chincheros to visit the ruins of the Royal Hacienda of Túpac Inca Yupanqui. Chinchero Peru, Tours in South America You will admire a well-preserved Inca Wall in the Main Square, and visit the beautiful Vice Royal temple built on Inca foundations, with interesting frescoes in the portico.
Late afternoon return to your selected hotel for overnight.
Evening free. You suggest strolling around the Main Square and enjoy the night atmosphere trying a delicious Pisco Sour in some of the many pubs around the Square.
Note: The visit to the Village of Chincheros depends on the time available.

DAY 05: CUSCO - Machu Picchu Tour
Machu Picchu Peru, Tours in South America The day starts with an early morning rise to take the Cusco Train for a 3 ½ hour train journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the Incas", discovered in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham.
Arrival: Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes, you will make the 25-minute bus ascent to the "Lost City of the Incas".
You tour the ruins for around 3 hours, during which time your guide will explain the astounding degree of technology achieved by the builders of this famous site. The tight construction, the water channels, the steps carved from the living rock of the mountain, and the Intihuatana, (or "Hitching Post of the Sun"), which was used as an astronomical calendar, all show technological advancement far beyond anything this region of the world was thought to have achieved. Machu Picchu Peru, Tours in South America These, along with the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Tomb, the Priests' House, the Inca Baths and the Temple of the Three Windows, all allow us to look back into the past and, with the help of your guide, revisit the lives of these truly remarkable people.

The mid-afternoon train takes you back to Cusco. Meet by our Representative and transport to your hotel.

DAY 06: CUSCO - LIMA
Transport to the airport to board your plane to Lima.

DAY 07: LIMA, PERU - SANTIAGO DE CHILE

DAY 08: SANTIAGO: City Tour
The Cathedral,  Santiago de Chile, Tours in South America Breakfast. In the morning a city tour of Santiago de Chile. The first place visited is the Cerro Santa Lucia Hill, an important architectural complex, which constitutes an attractive and notable element in the image of the city. At an altitude of 628 meters altitude it is the place of the foundation of the city. Buildings such as the San Francisco Church with its convent surround it. Its XVI and XVII century architecture present elements that have survived in Chilean architecture. You will continue on to the centre of the city, where the Main Square - Plaza de Armas with the Cathedral, the Royal Tribune - Real Audiencia, the Main Post Office - Correo Central, which used to be the residence of the Conquistador, and the Municipality of Santiago is situated. A few blocks away from the Plaza you will see the La Moneda, which used to be the place where the Spaniards minted their coins, but today is the presidential palace and residence ever since the declaration of Chile's independence from the Spanish Crown.

DAY 09: SANTIAGO: Viña del Mar and Valparaiso
Valparaiso, Chile, Tours in South America Breakfast. In the morning you will begin out on your visit to the city of Valparaiso, colourful city, rich in national architecture, inspiration of artists and poets, which has been declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is sited at 120 kms (almost 75 miles) from Santiago.
During the trip you will be able to appreciate the imposing view of the valleys of Curacavi and Casablanca with their famed vineyards. Once in Valparaiso, you will see the colourful houses and the cable cars. You will make a stop over at the viewpoint of the Mirador 21 de Mayo, one of the many in the city which allows for a magnificent view over the bay of Valparaiso.
You will continue on to the neighbouring city of Viña del Mar, the Garden City, which with its paradisiacal beaches is the most important beach resort in Chile, and one of the principal ones of South America. The sea and vegetation seems to be the perfect combination for this well kept of the Pacific, also known as the Garden City. It is located 9 kms (about 6 miles) north of Valparaiso and offers all comforts to its visitors.
Free time for lunch for your own. Return to Santiago and your hotel. Overnight.

DAY 10: SANTIAGO - CALAMA: San Pedro de Atacama
Valle de la Luna, Chile, Tours in South America Breakfast and then transport to the International Airport to take a plane to the city of Calama. Arrival at Calama. Welcome and transport from the Airport to San Pedro de Atacama.
Visit to the mythical Valle de la Luna in the afternoon, a landscape of geological formations dyed in white by the salt covering them and giving them a moonlike aspect; you will go on tours along various sectors of the Valley and the mountain range surrounding San Pedro. Return to your hotel. Overnight.

DAY 11: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA: Atacama Salt Lake
Atacama Salt Lake, Chile, Tours in South America Breakfast. Morning off to go on optional tours. Visit to the Atacama Salt Deposit in the afternoon, the largest salt deposit in Chile and the second largest in South America, after that of Uyuni in Bolivia.
Atacama Salt Lake, Chile, Tours in South America The Salt Deposit, which is located at 2305 m altitude, is an endless rough and white mantle of salt stained by the fine dust of the desert, under which there is a huge lake that emerges to the surface as small lagoons that contain interesting wild species, with the beautiful pink flamingos, one of the three species of this bird having their habitat in the cordillera, standing out. You will also visit the Town of Toconao, a traditional town built with pumice, a stone of volcanic origins. Return to San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight.

DAY 12: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA: Tatio Geysers
Tatio Geysers, Chile, Tours in South America You set off at dawn towards the Geysers of Tatio. This impressive geothermic field, located at 4320 metres above sea level, spurts thick columns of steam with temperatures reaching 85º C through open cracks. Temperatures drop below zero at dawn, when the landscape turns frightening and the steam jets reach heights of 7 m. The phenomenon is produced by the contact betyouen the subterranean cold river and the magma of the Tatio Volcano. Breakfast in the place. Later you will visit the Community of Machuca, located at 50 kms northeast of San Pedro de Atacama at an altitude of 4000 m. Its adobe houses have been refurbished keeping the traditional local style, along with its church of traditional construction. Return to San Pedro de Atacama at noon. Afternoon off to go on optional tours. Overnight.

DAY 13: CALAMA - SANTIAGO, CHILE
Breakfast. Transport to the airport in Calama in due time in order to take your plane back to the city of Santiago. Welcome at Santiago’s airport and transport to the hotel of your choice. Afternoon free, depending on arrival time of your plane. Overnight.
